Ankara Airport Transfers: 442, Shuttles and Taxis

Ankara Esenboğa Airport (ESB) is in Akyurt, 28 km from the city centre. The airport’s current transport information lists road-based Havaş, AnkaraAir, taxis, car rental and private cars; it does not list an airport metro or rail station. EGO 442 is the municipal route through Ankara’s central corridor. It serves the arrivals level of both domestic and international terminals, then runs via AŞTİ intercity bus terminal, Kızılay, Ankara Train Station, Ulus and other central stops. AnkaraAir’s six listed city stops are AŞTİ, Kızılay, the old train station, AKM, Aydınlıkevler and Pursaklar. City-to-airport vehicles are scheduled, while airport-to-city vehicles leave according to passenger demand. Havaş is organised around terminal pickup points and flight-linked airport departures. The airport lists pickups at Columns 22 and 23 on International Arrivals and Columns 3, 4 and 5 on Domestic Arrivals. City-to-airport buses run every 30 minutes from AŞTİ and Ulus during their published windows; airport-to-city buses leave in line with arriving flights. Taxi ranks stand outside both arrivals levels and take you to the stated address. They suit heavy luggage, accommodation away from shuttle corridors or an arrival after the useful bus connection. Use AnkaraAir’s figures to compare stops, not to promise a door-to-door arrival. The operator publishes 60 minutes from AŞTİ to Esenboğa and back, 55 minutes from Kızılay, 50 minutes from the old train station and AKM, and 25 minutes from Pursaklar. EGO’s live 442 page gives a 75 km route and a 110-minute total duration for the full AŞTİ–Kızılay–airport circuit. It does not present 110 minutes as a universal airport-to-hotel time. Havaş’s airport information gives stop locations and a flight-linked pattern, but no fixed Ankara airport-to-city duration. Its service page says the duration field is approximate and can vary with traffic. Check the date-specific planner or contact centre rather than carrying over a duration from another route. The airport’s 28 km figure is the published distance to central Ankara, not a taxi-time estimate. A taxi depends on destination and traffic but takes you directly to the address; every bus or shuttle requires a final walk or city connection. The clearest fare comparison is between EGO 442’s airport tariff and AnkaraAir’s open-ticket price. EGO lists 150 TL for route 442 between Esenboğa, Kızılay and AŞTİ. That airport route has its own fare, and the student tariff does not apply, so the ordinary central-Ankara fare is not the figure for this journey. AnkaraAir publishes 250 TL one way, including VAT, for every passenger. Its open ticket remains valid for 72 hours after purchase. Buying it does not reserve a guaranteed departure: go to the selected stop within that period and board the next suitable AnkaraAir vehicle. The operator says the price does not change with passenger demand. The choice here is therefore not only price, but whether the AnkaraAir stop and its flexible boarding fit your timing. Havaş needs a date-specific check before you set a budget. Its public service page provides route, journey-duration and fare fields, but the current page information does not publish a fixed Ankara-specific fare. The taxi comparison is deliberately open-ended. Airport taxis charge by the applicable taximeter tariff, and Esenboğa publishes no fixed price to Kızılay, Ulus, AŞTİ or an individual hotel. Use the marked airport rank, state the destination clearly and check that the meter is running before departure. AnkaraAir publishes 48 scheduled departures from each listed city stop to Esenboğa. The displayed Kızılay pattern runs from 01:00 to 22:10; AŞTİ runs from 00:55 to 22:05. The old train station and AKM show 01:05 as the first departure and 22:15 as the last, while Pursaklar shows 01:30 and 22:40. AnkaraAir publishes no fixed departure clock from Esenboğa; vehicles are arranged continuously according to passenger demand. Go to the AnkaraAir passenger platforms at the domestic or international arrivals exits and board the next suitable vehicle. EGO 442 separates weekday, Saturday and Sunday columns rather than offering one interval for every day. The displayed pattern includes airport departures through the day and evening, including 23:30, with further overnight entries in the table. Havaş uses flight-linked airport departures instead of a fixed airport clock. From the city side, the airport publishes departures every 30 minutes from AŞTİ between 03:00 and 21:00 and from Ulus between 03:00 and 21:30. Between 21:00 and 03:00, Havaş arrangements follow flight departure times. From Esenboğa, buses are arranged around arriving flights, so the arrival side requires a flight-specific check. AnkaraAir advertises 7/24 service, lists Kızılay city departures at 01:00, 03:00 and 04:00, and sends airport-to-city vehicles according to passenger demand. Its open ticket is valid for 72 hours, but use the published stop page to confirm the current pattern before travelling. EGO 442 has a separate Sunday column and the displayed timetable includes overnight airport departures, including 00:01 and 02:00, as well as later daytime and evening services. The same page says religious and official holidays use the Saturday schedule. Havaş requires the most flight-specific decision. Its airport departures are linked to arriving flights rather than a fixed airport clock. Havaş warns that weather and flight cancellations can change or cancel planned services, and asks passengers to confirm the service corresponding to their flight through its contact centre. For a Sunday or late-night landing, check the flight status first, then confirm the Havaş service rather than assuming a standard departure. The taxi rank is the fallback. Ranks operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including Sundays and overnight. International arrivals use Columns 24 and 25; domestic arrivals use Columns 7, 8 and 9. If your flight reaches Ankara after the final convenient bus connection, follow the signs to the marked rank outside arrivals and use the taximeter tariff.
