Baku Airport Transfers

Heydar Aliyev International Airport is Baku’s main passenger airport, about 20 kilometres east of the city centre. The airport has two passenger terminals, and both are served by Aero Express, the airport–city shuttle. Aero Express runs from Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 to Baku Railway Station and the adjacent “28 May” metro station. The airport operator lists Koroğlu Transport Hub as the intermediate city stop; the route also serves the Surakhani Bridge. “28 May” is the useful arrival point for the central railway station, the metro network and onward city buses. A licensed taxi, a pre-booked car or a rideshare gives you a direct journey to your accommodation. The airport lists Uber, Bolt and Yango among the ridesharing services available from both terminals, while Baku Taxi has an official airport booking point. Choose the direct option when you have bulky luggage, a hotel outside the central area or an arrival that does not fit the bus interval. Aero Express publishes a journey time of 30 minutes between the airport and its last stop at Baku Railway Station or “28 May”. That is an airport-to-station figure, not a door-to-door promise. The bus is the simplest public-transport route because it reaches a central interchange without requiring a transfer at Koroğlu. If your hotel is near the eastern districts, Baku Olympic Stadium or another area served from Koroğlu, get off there and continue by metro, bus or taxi. A taxi or rideshare has no single published journey time. Road conditions affect the airport road, and the airport’s Aero Express page expressly says weather and traffic can change the bus journey. Treat the 30-minute figure as the scheduled road leg and leave extra time for the terminal walk and the final city connection, especially for a flight departure. The reusable BakuKART costs 2 AZN, and the airport provides BakuKART machines at the exits of Terminals 1 and 2. One card can be used by a group of travellers, but it must have enough balance for each passenger’s trip. A metro journey is priced separately at 0.60 AZN per trip on the current Baku Metro fare page. If you leave Aero Express at Koroğlu and continue by metro, budget for the bus fare plus the metro fare. The airport publishes Aero Express departures every 20 minutes from 06:00 until 23:15. Between 23:15 and 06:00, the published interval is every 45 minutes. The airport’s current transport information also describes Aero Express as operating around the clock and gives approximately 30 minutes for the airport-to-last-stop journey. It warns that traffic and weather can affect travel time. Check the route display and the operator’s current departure information after collecting your luggage, particularly when the next overnight departure matters. Baku Metro stations are open every day from 06:00 to 24:00. Metro timetables and intervals vary by line, station and operating pattern, so the metro is an onward connection from Aero Express rather than a late-night airport service. The airport publishes Aero Express as a 24-hour route with 20-minute daytime departures and 45-minute overnight departures. It does not publish a separate Sunday frequency on the route page. For a late-night arrival, the airport bus is the only scheduled airport-to-city public-transport option described on the airport’s transport pages. The 23:15–06:00 interval is every 45 minutes, not a fixed list of individual departure times. Sunday metro travel is available within the published daily opening window of 06:00–24:00, but the airport does not publish a through airport–metro timetable. If you need to reach a neighbourhood beyond “28 May” or Koroğlu, check the metro connection separately and keep the Aero Express schedule in view. Baku Taxi’s official airport stop is at the exit of Terminal 1. The service can be ordered from its booth in Terminal 1, through the 1000 call centre or through its mobile application. Baku Taxi publishes a per-kilometre charging structure with separate standard and comfort categories, but the reviewed operator page does not display the actual kilometre amounts. No fixed airport-to-centre taxi fare is recorded here. Ask for the current quoted amount through the operator’s booking channel before setting off, and use the marked airport pick-up area rather than accepting an unbooked vehicle inside the arrivals flow. The airport lists Uber, Bolt and Yango as available ridesharing services from Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. It directs passengers to the kerbside pick-up areas and advises following the outdoor signs for the precise meeting point.
