Choose the metro, bus or Karwa taxi
Hamad International Airport (DOH) is Doha’s main passenger airport. Confirm that your booking names DOH before choosing the Metro, a bus or a taxi, then check the arrival terminal: the Red Line station serves Terminal 1. (Hamad International Airport, checked 2026-09-28)
The Red Line is the most useful rail connection. Qatar Rail serves Hamad International Airport Terminal 1 and takes passengers towards central Doha. Change at Msheireb for the Green or Gold lines, or at Al Bidda for the Green Line. Choose the metro when your accommodation is near a station and your luggage is manageable. (Visit Qatar Doha Metro guide, checked 2026-09-28, Qatar Rail network map, checked 2026-09-28)
Mowasalat’s T612 links Hamad International Airport with Industrial Area Bus Station and passes through Doha. Its airport route sheet shows a 24-hour service, 30-minute frequency and connections near metro stations. Route 777 runs from the airport towards The Pearl via Al Qassar Metro Station, with its own daytime timetable. (Hamad International Airport T612 route sheet, checked 2026-09-28, Hamad International Airport route 777 sheet, checked 2026-09-28)
Karwa Taxi is the door-to-door option. Mowasalat says you can book through the Karwa Taxi app, its website or its 24-hour customer-service centre. Use it for a hotel away from a station, several large bags, children or an arrival outside the metro window. (Mowasalat Karwa Taxi and limousine services, checked 2026-09-28)

Use station times, not hotel promises
Qatar Rail’s airport timetable gives station-by-station journey times from Hamad International Airport Terminal 1 on the Red Line. The published airport sheet ranges from 7 to 42 minutes depending on the destination station. Use the exact station for your accommodation rather than treating “central Doha” as one fixed rail journey. (Qatar Rail airport timetable, checked 2026-09-28)
Visit Qatar says Doha Metro trains arrive every six minutes and gives an average of three minutes between stations. Those are network figures, not a door-to-door airport promise. Add immigration, baggage collection, the walk to the Terminal 1 station, waiting, any interchange and the walk or feeder ride after the final station. (Visit Qatar Doha Metro guide, checked 2026-09-28)
The T612 and 777 route sheets publish stops and departures but do not publish one fixed airport-to-central-Doha duration. Road traffic and the number of stops determine the result. Use the Karwa Journey Planner for the destination and date instead of converting a service interval into a journey-time guarantee. (Hamad International Airport T612 route sheet, checked 2026-09-28, Hamad International Airport route 777 sheet, checked 2026-09-28, Mowasalat public bus service, checked 2026-09-28)
Karwa is the only option in this comparison that ends at the accommodation. Mowasalat’s taxi page does not publish one fixed airport-to-hotel duration; use the current app estimate or the quoted route and allow time for traffic. (Mowasalat Karwa Taxi, checked 2026-09-28)

Pay QAR 2 on the metro or the route fare
Qatar Rail publishes QAR 2 for a Standard or Family single journey, QAR 6 for a day pass and QAR 40 for a weekly pass. The day pass allows unlimited Doha Metro and Lusail Tram journeys until 02:59, while daily capping on a reusable card reaches QAR 6 after three journeys. Goldclub costs QAR 10 for a single journey and QAR 30 for a day pass. (Qatar Rail fares policy, checked 2026-09-28)
Buy a metro travel card at a station vending machine and tap in and out. Qatar Rail says everyone aged five and above needs a valid Travel Pass; children under five may travel free when accompanied by an eligible adult. Visit Qatar states that children under five travel free and older children pay the adult price. (Qatar Rail fares policy, checked 2026-09-28, Visit Qatar Doha Metro guide, checked 2026-09-28)
The airport’s T612 sheet publishes a QAR 2.50–3.00 fare. Route 777 publishes QAR 5. Keep those fares tied to their named routes; do not apply the T612 amount to route 777. The Mowasalat bus page directs passengers to the Karwa Journey Planner for current route information. (Hamad International Airport T612 route sheet, checked 2026-09-28, Hamad International Airport route 777 sheet, checked 2026-09-28, Mowasalat public bus service, checked 2026-09-28)
Mowasalat’s official taxi page does not publish a fixed airport fare. Book through the Karwa app, website or customer-service centre, then use the current quote or meter for the destination and vehicle. (Mowasalat Karwa Taxi, checked 2026-09-28)

Match departures to the published operating window
The airport-specific Qatar Rail sheet lists the first airport train at 05:37 and station closing at 23:59 from Sunday through Wednesday. Thursday and Saturday start at 05:40 and close at 01:00. Friday starts at 14:00 and closes at 01:00. These are airport-station times; the final connecting train depends on the destination and direction. (Qatar Rail airport timetable, checked 2026-09-28)
Qatar Rail’s network map gives the broader Doha Metro pattern as 05:00–01:00 from Saturday through Thursday and 09:00–01:00 on Friday. Use the airport-specific sheet for boarding at Terminal 1, then confirm the current first and last train in the Qatar Rail app before travelling. (Qatar Rail network map, checked 2026-09-28)
T612 is the clearest scheduled public-transport option outside metro hours: its airport sheet publishes 24-hour operation and departures every 30 minutes. The timetable is labelled for weekdays and weekends and lists departure and arrival times. Mowasalat’s general bus page gives wider network hours of Sunday to Saturday, 04:00 to midnight, so use the route-specific T612 sheet for this airport service. (Hamad International Airport T612 route sheet, checked 2026-09-28, Mowasalat public bus service, checked 2026-09-28)
Route 777 publishes operation from 05:00 to 23:00, departures every 20 minutes and a timetable headed “Weekdays”. That establishes a weekday pattern only. Check the travel date in the Karwa Journey Planner instead of extending the weekday table to the weekend. Plan late arrivals, Sundays and Friday mornings
For a late arrival, first check whether you can reach the Terminal 1 metro station before its airport-specific closing time. If not, T612 publishes 24-hour operation at 30-minute intervals. Karwa also provides a 24-hour customer-service channel, so keep the accommodation address ready and confirm the route before leaving arrivals. (Hamad International Airport T612 route sheet, checked 2026-09-28, Mowasalat Karwa Taxi, checked 2026-09-28)
Sunday is covered by the Qatar Rail airport timetable under the Sunday-to-Wednesday pattern: the first airport train is 05:37 and the station closes at 23:59. T612’s timetable is labelled weekdays and weekend. Route 777’s sheet is labelled weekdays and therefore does not establish Sunday service. (Qatar Rail airport timetable, checked 2026-09-28, Hamad International Airport T612 route sheet, checked 2026-09-28, Hamad International Airport route 777 sheet, checked 2026-09-28)
Friday morning needs separate planning. Qatar Rail lists the first airport train at 14:00, and Visit Qatar notes the Friday-morning shutdown for prayers. A morning arrival should use T612 or Karwa, then check the Qatar Rail app for reopening and the onward connection. (Qatar Rail airport timetable, checked 2026-09-28, Visit Qatar Doha Metro guide, checked 2026-09-28)
Special events and seasonal occasions can change metro hours. Before leaving the airport, confirm the travel date, direction and final connection in the operator’s app, especially when the flight arrives near the published closing time. Use Karwa for direct and flexible travel
Karwa taxis serve passengers arriving at and departing from Hamad International Airport. Mowasalat lists booking through the Karwa Taxi app, online booking through its official website and a 24-hour customer-service centre at 4458 8888. The service is useful when the metro is closed, the hotel is not near a station or luggage makes an interchange inconvenient. (Mowasalat Karwa Taxi and limousine services, checked 2026-09-28)
Mowasalat also offers chauffeur services in Select, Business and First Class categories, including larger vehicles. These are separate limousine products, not the ordinary Karwa taxi fare. Book through an official Karwa channel and confirm the vehicle and current price before accepting the reservation. (Mowasalat Karwa Taxi and limousine services, checked 2026-09-28)
Use one of Mowasalat’s current official booking channels: the Karwa Taxi app, its online booking page or the 24-hour customer-service centre. Enter the accommodation address and confirm the live quoted fare before the ride. (Mowasalat Karwa Taxi and limousine services, checked 2026-09-28)
