Oslo Airport Transfers: Flytoget, Vy & Bus

Oslo Airport Gardermoen (OSL) is the main airport for Oslo. Avinor places it 35 km northeast of the capital in a straight line. The airport has a dedicated rail station, direct buses and taxis. Flytoget is the dedicated Airport Express. It serves Oslo Central Station, Nationaltheatret, Skøyen and other central stops; Vy trains also run through Oslo Airport on regional and local routes. Flybussen connects the airport with central Oslo and several city districts. Ruter buses serve nearby areas rather than replacing the direct airport train for most central addresses. Torp Sandefjord Airport (TRF) is the other airport travellers use for Oslo, especially when their flight is sold to Torp. Torp’s operator describes Oslo as approximately 1½ hours away by bus or train, and approximately 80 minutes by taxi. The airport is about 3 km from Fokserød by the E18. At Torp, choose the direct Torp-Ekspressen to Oslo Bussterminal, or take the airport shuttle to Torp station and continue on a Vy train. The station shuttle is a separate leg and requires its own ticket. Taxis wait outside the terminal, while Torp also lists Vestfold Taxi and Grenland Taxi for pre-arranged journeys. From OSL, Flytoget publishes a 19-minute journey to Oslo Central Station. The train reaches Nationaltheatret and Skøyen without requiring a change, which can be more useful than Oslo S when the accommodation is in western or central Oslo. Vy publishes 23 minutes between Oslo S and Oslo Airport, with one intermediate stop. Vy’s route page also names Skøyen and Nationaltheatret as boarding points in Oslo. Avinor publishes approximately 20 minutes for the train journey from Oslo Airport to the city centre and lists Flytoget and Vy as the rail operators. Flybussen has a direct city route, but the airport page does not publish one universal airport-to-hotel journey time; check the operator’s planner for the stop and departure you need. Torp is a longer transfer. Torp publishes 1½ hours to downtown Oslo by train and 1½ hours by direct bus. Its taxi page publishes approximately 80 minutes to Oslo by taxi. The train option includes the airport shuttle to Torp station, so leave time for the connection rather than treating the rail journey alone as the airport transfer. Flytoget lists NOK 276 for an adult one-way journey between Oslo Airport and Oslo S, Nationaltheatret, Skøyen, Lysaker or Stabekk. Its other-category fare is NOK 138; this includes students, eligible seniors and several discounted groups. Children under 16 travel free with a passenger over 16. Vy does not publish one fixed airport fare on its Oslo–Gardermoen information page. Vy directs passengers to its date-specific journey planner or app, where the fare and available departure are shown together. Flybussen Connect’s fare table, valid from 1 April 2026, lists NOK 279 online, NOK 289 at the airport machine and NOK 319 on board for an adult single ticket. An adult online return is NOK 449. At Torp, the airport shuttle to Torp station costs NOK 55. The Vy train fare is date-specific in Vy’s planner. Torp-Ekspressen publishes online return examples from NOK 279 for an adult and NOK 214 for a student; the operator labels these as starting prices, so select your journey before relying on the amount. Flytoget publishes departures every ten minutes from Oslo Airport virtually all day, with real-time departures in its app. Flybussen publishes a departure every 20 minutes between Oslo city centre and OSL every day. These are service patterns, not a substitute for checking the departure shown for your travel date. At this review, Avinor displayed an ongoing train-driver strike notice, and Vy said several trains had been cancelled, with its notice last updated 21 September. Do not rely on a normal weekday or Sunday Vy pattern without checking live service status before you travel. Avinor said Flytoget was operating normally when its page was checked. Torp’s train shuttle operates Monday to Friday from 04:43 to 01:15, Saturday from 05:43 to 23:16 and Sunday from 06:43 to 01:15. Torp-Ekspressen publishes multiple daily departures in both directions. Its timetable is adapted to stated Ryanair and Wizz Air arrivals, and buses from the airport leave no earlier than 45 minutes after the actual arrival of those flights. For a late OSL arrival, check Flytoget’s live app departure first. Flytoget’s current public information gives the all-day frequency pattern but does not publish a fixed first and last departure on that page. Flybussen says its airport coach runs every 20 minutes every day, but its current public fare and information pages do not publish one universal first or last departure; confirm the date-specific journey before travelling. A current strike may affect Vy departures on weekdays and Sundays alike. Vy’s notice says several trains have been cancelled and recommends checking its journey planner before each trip; Avinor also displays a rail-disruption notice and says Flytoget is operating normally. At Torp, Sunday has a published shuttle window of 06:43–01:15, but the terminal itself is closed at night. For a late flight, check the flight arrival, the airport’s departures page and the Torp-Ekspressen timetable; a ticket booked online is valid on all departures that day, subject to the operator’s conditions. Taxi is the fallback when the published public-transport connection does not fit the arrival. At OSL, book at the airport taxi machine or through a taxi company’s own app and accept the upfront price before departure. Oslo Airport advises passengers not to enter an unbooked taxi or agree a price directly with a driver at the terminal. Use the booking machines outside the terminal at ground level, where prices to addresses in Eastern Norway are displayed, or use a taxi company’s own booking app. The airport says a booked taxi generally arrives within three to five minutes, and the taxi stand is outside international arrivals. Torp allows free choice of taxi company. The airport lists Vestfold Taxi and Grenland Taxi, says taxis wait outside the terminal, and states that drivers must tell passengers the price before departure.
