Queenstown Airport: Bus, Taxi or Shuttle

Queenstown Airport (ZQN) is the Southern Lakes region’s main domestic and international airport. For Wānaka, SkyDrive publishes approximately 1 hour 15 minutes via Crown Range and approximately 1 hour 50 minutes via Cromwell. Orbus charges NZ$10 cash for an adult journey to or from Queenstown Airport. With a Bee Card, the adult airport fare is NZ$2.50. Orbus Route 1 is published for weekdays and weekends. In the Sunshine Bay-to-Remarkables Shops direction, the operator lists approximately every 15 minutes from 06:02 to 20:01, followed by approximately every 30 minutes until 00:25. SkyDrive publishes four shuttles per day each way between Queenstown and Wānaka, stopping at Queenstown Airport and Frankton. It does not publish one all-day interval on the service page; use the booking portal for the date-specific departures and seat availability. Walk-up boarding is not guaranteed when vehicles are full. Sunday is included in Orbus Route 1’s published “weekdays and weekends” pattern. The route continues into the evening and around midnight, but the airport departure depends on the chosen date and direction. Christmas Day is the only public holiday when Orbus Queenstown does not operate; on other public holidays it runs the normal timetable. For a flight arriving after the useful bus departures, pre-book a taxi or Super Shuttle. The terminal is open daily from 04:00 to 22:30, and passengers may not sleep inside after closing. For an early departure, arrange transport in advance and confirm the collection time; the airport information desk is open daily from 08:30 to 17:00. Orbus stops are close to the terminal, but Route 1 remains a local bus with a separate walk from the final stop.
