Shenzhen Airport Transfers: Metro, Bus and Taxi

Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport (SZX) is the city’s principal airport, in Bao’an District. The airport’s Ground Transportation Center connects arrivals with Metro Line 11, Airport Express buses, taxis and app-booked cars. Choose the metro for a low-cost connection into western and central Shenzhen, an Airport Express route when its city terminal is closer to your accommodation, or a taxi when you have heavy luggage or need a direct address. Metro Line 11 runs from Airport Station towards Honglingnan through Qianhaiwan, Nanshan, Houhai, Chegongmiao, Futian, Gangxia North, Fuxing and Huaqiangnan. In the opposite direction it runs towards Bitou through Airport North, Fuyong, Shajing and Songgang. Check your hotel against the station list before boarding: Line 11 is useful for the main western and central corridors, but it is not a door-to-door service. Airport Express buses depart from the west platform of the Ground Transportation Center, with ticketing at the counter beside Gate 17 or through the Shenzhen Airport Express WeChat account. Current routes include A3 to Nanshan and Shenzhen Bay Port, A4 to Longgang, A5 to Pingshan, A10 to Futian Port, and night services such as A2 to Longhua, NA1 to Futian, NA6 to Guangming, NA8 to Buji, NA9 to Yanluo and NA11 to Bao’an–Xixiang. Taxis operate around the clock from Gate 13, while online ride-hailing pick-up is available at Gate 15. Use the marked airport areas rather than accepting a solicitation inside the arrivals hall. For Macau-bound travellers, the airport also operates a passenger ferry terminal; that is a cross-border onward option, not a substitute for a city-centre transfer. Shenzhen Airport publishes Line 11’s stations, first and last departures and fares, but it does not publish one fixed airport-to-city-centre journey time on its passenger transport page. The practical time depends on your destination station, interchange, walking route and waiting time. The Airport Express page publishes route endpoints and intervals, but it does not publish a single scheduled journey time for the airport-to-city leg. Road traffic, intermediate stops and the final walk all sit outside the published timetable. Choose the bus by its terminal or district, not by an assumed number of minutes; if you need a hard arrival deadline, allow a margin and check the operator’s current route information before leaving. A taxi or app-booked car is the only listed option that can take you directly to a hotel address, but Shenzhen Airport publishes no fixed city fare or fixed journey time for either service. The final result changes with the address, traffic and road conditions. Ask for the destination to be entered clearly in Chinese or show the hotel address in the booking app, and keep the official pick-up gate in view when meeting a driver. Metro Line 11’s ordinary carriage fare from Airport Station is published as CNY 2–14 one way. The business carriage is published as CNY 6–30 one way. The exact amount depends on the stations travelled, so do not treat the upper end as the airport-to-centre price. Shenzhen Metro also lists QR-code payment, Shenzhen Tong, bank-card and other accepted payment methods; check the current payment instructions if your phone or card is not configured for mainland China. Airport Express fares are published by route. Current airport-to-city prices include CNY 20 for A3 Nanshan and NA6 Guangming, CNY 25 for A2 Longhua, NA1 Futian, A10 Futian Port and NA11 Bao’an–Xixiang, CNY 35 for A4 Longgang, and CNY 40 for A5 Pingshan. The airport taxi page publishes service hours and pick-up locations but no fixed fare. The online ride-hailing page likewise does not publish a standard airport-to-city price. Treat the quoted or metered amount as address- and traffic-dependent; do not use a copied flat fare from a hotel, blog or transfer seller as the airport’s official price. Ferry fares apply to specific cross-border or island routes rather than a Shenzhen hotel transfer. The airport’s ferry page gives route-specific schedules and RMB ticket information, so check the destination, sailing date and passport or immigration requirements before buying. The airport operator currently lists Airport Station departures towards Bitou at 06:37 and 00:03, and towards Honglingnan at 05:36 and 00:02. The listed half-route last trains are 00:57 towards Airport North and 00:22 towards Songgang. Airport Express coverage is broader overnight. From the airport, A2 operates 00:00–04:00 every 30–60 minutes, A3 00:00–04:00 every 60–120 minutes, A4 07:00–04:00 the next day every 20–30 minutes, A5 07:00–04:00 the next day every 20–40 minutes, NA1 22:30–05:00 the next day every 20–30 minutes, A10 07:00–21:00 every 60 minutes and NA11 00:00–04:00 every 30–60 minutes. The operator also lists NA6, NA8 and NA9 at CNY 20, CNY 25 and CNY 20 respectively, each on its own route and operating window. For the return journey, the same page publishes different windows: A4 runs 05:00–23:30, A5 04:10–22:30, A10 08:00–22:00, and the early NA1 service 04:00–06:30. A2 and A3 are shown for early-morning departures from the city, with their own published intervals. After midnight, Metro Line 11 is not the only airport option, but its published Airport Station last departures are just after midnight. If your flight reaches the terminal later, check the Airport Express night routes first: A2, A3, NA1, NA6, NA8, NA9 and NA11 are published with overnight windows, while A4 and A5 continue until 04:00 the next day. The airport says the last night-bus departure is adjusted according to the latest arriving flight, so confirm at Gate 17 after collecting luggage. Taxis and online ride-hailing are the clearest late-night fallback because Shenzhen Airport publishes both as operating 00:00–24:00. Go to the official taxi area at Gate 13 or the ride-hailing area at Gate 15. The airport publishes no fixed late-night supplement or city fare on this page, so use the meter or the confirmed app quote and retain the destination details. The airport’s bus table gives operating windows and intervals without a separate Sunday timetable or Sunday surcharge. Read the published pattern as the service to check for Sunday, then confirm your travel date in the Shenzhen Airport Express account because route availability and late departures can be adjusted. Ferry travellers need a separate Sunday check. The airport publishes route-specific sailing patterns, including services whose operation depends on weekends, public holidays or the individual route. Do not arrive at the ferry terminal using a weekday assumption: check the airport ferry page or its named official WeChat account, then allow time for boarding and border formalities.
