01

Choose Changi MRT, bus, taxi or Seletar connections

Most international visitors reach Singapore through Changi Airport. The Changi Airport MRT station connects to the East West Line via Tanah Merah and the Downtown Line via Expo. Follow terminal signs to the station or the bus stops serving your arrival hall; Terminal 4’s bus bays are separate from Terminals 1–3. (Changi Airport transport, checked 2026-09-28)

The airport lists buses 24, 27, 34, 36, 53, 110 and 858 from Terminals 1, 2 and 3. At Terminal 4, buses 24, 34, 36 and 110 stop by Car Park 4B; 27, 53 and 858 stop near the SATS Inflight Catering Centre. Use LTA’s journey planner for the stop closest to your hotel. (Changi Airport bus information, checked 2026-09-28; LTA journey planning, checked 2026-09-28)

Taxis queue at the arrivals areas of all four Changi terminals. App-booked cars use signed ride-hailing pickup points. A 24-hour Ground Transport Concierge can book a four- or six-seater for one drop-off address. (Changi Airport taxi and transfer options, checked 2026-09-28)

Some flights use Seletar Airport (XSP), a separate airport that also supports scheduled commercial flights. Bus 102 stops at the terminal; taxis and private-hire cars also operate there. Confirm the airport code before setting out because the transfer points differ. (Seletar Airport profile, checked 2026-09-28; Seletar Airport transport, checked 2026-09-28)

For a hotel near a train line, MRT is often easiest with a small bag; a taxi or private-hire car can simplify a group trip or a late arrival. The Concierge’s one-drop-off condition matters if your party is staying at separate addresses. Check terminal and pickup level before choosing a car.

02

Compare airport-to-city times with the final hotel leg

Changi Airport estimates about 30 minutes by taxi to the city. Treat this as a broad airport-to-city figure, not a hotel arrival promise: traffic, terminal pickup, luggage and the exact address affect the trip. (Changi Airport taxi information, checked 2026-09-28)

There is no single MRT journey time for every hotel. From CG2, change at Tanah Merah for the East West Line or at Expo for the Downtown Line, then complete the last leg by train, bus or foot. Enter your address in the LTA or SMRT planner rather than treating the airport branch as the whole trip. (Changi Airport train information, checked 2026-09-28; LTA journey planning, checked 2026-09-28)

Bus 24 runs between Ang Mo Kio Interchange and Changi Airport Terminal 2 through eastern and central-eastern districts. Its operator publishes the route and frequency ranges, not one hotel journey time. Compare the nearest stop with the full route before choosing the bus. (SBS Transit Service 24, checked 2026-09-28)

At Seletar, bus 102 links the airport with Hougang Central and connects with MRT stations at Hougang, Buangkok and Sengkang. It suits hotels near the route; other addresses may require a taxi or private-hire car. (Seletar Airport transport, checked 2026-09-28; SBS Transit Service 102, checked 2026-09-28)

Bus 24 loops through several eastern and central-eastern districts before the airport, so its route may suit an address near a listed stop but is not a quick substitute for a direct taxi. At Seletar, bus 102’s MRT connections are Hougang, Buangkok and Sengkang; choose based on the onward station, not just the airport stop.

03

Calculate the fare for your exact route

LTA does not publish one flat airport MRT fare because Singapore bus and train fares are distance-based. Use its Fare Calculator with your boarding and alighting points to check the fare, including eligible transfers. (LTA Fare Calculator, checked 2026-09-28)

Pay adult bus and train fares with an accepted contactless bank card, mobile wallet or stored-value card. Tap in and out with the same card or device. Foreign-issued bank cards incur an administrative fee; cash is accepted on buses at a higher fare and no change is given. (LTA payment information, checked 2026-09-28; Changi Airport payment information, checked 2026-09-28)

Changi Airport estimates S$25–S$45 for a metered taxi to the city. Add the airport surcharge: S$8 from 17:00 to 23:59 or S$6 at other times. LTA lists a 50% midnight surcharge from 00:00 to 05:59 and 25% peak-period surcharges. Flag-down, distance and waiting charges vary by taxi company. (Changi Airport taxi fares, checked 2026-09-28; LTA taxi fares and surcharges, checked 2026-09-28)

Changi’s Ground Transport Concierge lists S$70 for a four-seater or S$75 for a six-seater to one destination, with extra charges for specified restricted destinations. These are vehicle prices, not per-person fares. Seletar’s airport says its taxis are metered and have a S$3 all-day airport surcharge. (Changi Airport transfer fares, checked 2026-09-28; Seletar Airport taxi information, checked 2026-09-28)

For trains and buses, the exact card fare depends on the full origin-to-destination journey. Tap the same payment card or device on entry and exit so LTA can calculate the distance fare and eligible transfer. If using cash on a bus, prepare exact change; the driver does not give change.

Check the route-specific operating window

From Changi Airport MRT Station, the first train to Tanah Merah is listed at 05:31 Monday to Saturday and 05:59 on Sundays and public holidays. The last connection towards Tuas Link is 23:18 daily; towards Pasir Ris it is 00:06. These are airport-branch times, so check the onward route before relying on the last train. (Changi Airport train timetable, checked 2026-09-28; SMRT Journey Planner, checked 2026-09-28)

LTA describes the wider MRT and LRT network as operating from 05:30 to around midnight daily. Its usual frequency is two to three minutes during the 07:00–09:00 peak and five to seven minutes off-peak. Check the planner for your date and airport connection. (LTA rail network, checked 2026-09-28)

SBS Transit lists Service 24 from Ang Mo Kio Interchange between 05:30 and 23:00 daily, including Sundays and public holidays. Service 102 is listed from Hougang Central between 05:30 and 23:30 daily. These are interchange departure times, not the airport stop; check the operator’s route and arrival information. (SBS Transit Service 24, checked 2026-09-28; SBS Transit Service 102, checked 2026-09-28)

SBS Transit’s published Service 24 range is about 8–12 minutes on Sundays and public holidays in the morning, widening to 11–13 minutes after 19:00. For Service 102, the operator lists departures from Hougang Central between 05:30 and 23:30 daily; airport-stop frequency varies through the day. Verify the direction and live arrival after choosing either bus.

05

Use a taxi after public transport ends

Most public buses and MRT trains do not run through the night. If the last useful connection has passed, Changi Airport says metered taxis and app-booked private-hire cars remain available 24 hours from all four terminals. Follow the signed taxi rank or ride-hailing pickup instructions. (Changi Airport late-night transport, checked 2026-09-28)

For a Changi taxi between midnight and 05:59, add the midnight surcharge to the airport surcharge and metered fare. LTA also lists peak-hour surcharges; exact flag-down and waiting charges depend on the taxi company. Check the meter and tariff before setting off. (Changi Airport taxi information, checked 2026-09-28; LTA taxi fares, checked 2026-09-28)

Sunday service runs on route-specific schedules. Changi lists its first train to Tanah Merah at 05:59 on Sundays and public holidays; SBS Transit publishes separate Sunday timings for buses 24 and 102. Confirm the stop and direction serving your flight and check the return journey separately. (Changi Airport Sunday train times, checked 2026-09-28; SBS Transit Service 24, checked 2026-09-28; SBS Transit Service 102, checked 2026-09-28)

Changi’s 24-hour Ground Transport Concierge accepts advance bookings and has counters at Terminals 1–4. Its listed price covers a vehicle and one drop-off; specified industrial destinations carry extra charges. (Changi Airport Ground Transport Concierge, checked 2026-09-28)

Seletar’s official airport page lists its taxi service as metered, with a S$3 airport surcharge at all times. If you land close to the end of the 102 route, compare the published bus end time with your flight arrival and arrange a taxi or private-hire car if the connection will not work. (Seletar)
