About Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain
Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain is at 2 place du Palais-Royal, 75001 Paris, opposite the Louvre. This is the institution’s current venue, opened in October 2025, not its former boulevard Raspail building. Jean Nouvel redesigned the interior behind the preserved Haussmann-era façade, using five movable platforms to reconfigure the exhibition spaces.
As of 6 September 2026, the main Fondation galleries are temporarily closed for exhibition installation. They reopen on 22 October for Ibrahim Mahama’s The Harvest Season, scheduled through 28 February 2027. The bookshop reopens separately on 22 September, while Raymond Hains installations remain on place du Palais-Royal and in Galerie Valois; neither means that the ticketed galleries are open. Check the live homepage before travelling during the installation period.
After reopening, the published schedule is Monday closed, Tuesday–Friday 11:00–22:00, and Saturday–Sunday 11:00–20:00. Full-price admission is €15 and the reduced ticket is €10. Exhibition dates, special events and holiday exceptions should still be checked for the chosen day. The main entrance is at 2 place du Palais-Royal. Métro lines 1 and 7, RER lines A, B and D, and buses 21 and 67 serve the area. The Fondation states that the building is fully wheelchair accessible. Wheelchairs, seat sticks, baby carriers and other visitor-assistance equipment can be requested subject to availability. Small-item lockers measure 40 × 40 × 25 centimetres; cabin-size luggage, scooters, folding bicycles and skateboards are not admitted. The general telephone number is +33 1 70 65 47 00.
