Hôtel Le Vau is a historic private mansion at 3 quai d’Anjou on Île Saint-Louis in Paris’s 4th arrondissement. The house was built in 1640–1641 by and for Louis Le Vau, the French architect associated with major seventeenth-century works in Paris. Its position beside Hôtel Lambert reflects the period’s development of Île Saint-Louis with aristocratic residences and architect-designed private houses. The building occupies a triangular plot at the bend of quai d’Anjou. A monumental wrought-iron gate closes the courtyard facing the street, with an elaborate fixed transom decorated with scrollwork. Hôtel Le Vau is recorded as a protected historic building under the French monuments historiques system, with the heritage reference PA00086328. Paris Musées preserves a 1910 photograph of the building by Eugène Atget, documenting its appearance on quai d’Anjou in the early twentieth century. The site is best understood as an exterior architectural landmark and heritage address rather than a conventional hotel. Visitors can view the building from the public street while walking Île Saint-Louis.
