About Immeubles Walter

Immeubles Walter is a private Art Deco residential complex in Paris’s 16th arrondissement. France’s official heritage register identifies three apartment buildings occupying 2–10 boulevard Suchet, 1–9 avenue du Maréchal-Maunoury, 2 and 4 rue Ernest-Hébert, and 1–3 place de la Colombie. The complex is named after its architect, Jean Walter; Raymond Subes designed the ironwork.

Built between 1929 and 1931 on the former Thiers fortifications, the three buildings are arranged around internal courtyards and planted spaces. The official record describes a composition intended for affluent residents, with paired pilasters linking three main floors, a strongly projecting entablature and an attic storey. A planned matching section on the opposite side of place de la Colombie was never built.

This is not a museum, hotel or public architectural attraction. The Ministry of Culture records the property as privately owned and held in co-ownership. Heritage protection, granted in 2006, covers street, courtyard and garden façades and roofs as well as common areas, staircases and lifts; that protection does not create public access. There are no official visitor hours, admission tickets or public tours. View only the street-facing elevations from public pavements along boulevard Suchet, avenue du Maréchal-Maunoury, rue Ernest-Hébert or place de la Colombie. Do not enter gates, courtyards, lobbies, gardens or common areas without a resident’s explicit invitation. Keep entrances clear and respect residents’ privacy. For the clearest identification, use the complete protected-address range rather than a single apartment entrance.
