Hram Svetih apostola Vartolomeja i Varnave is a Serbian Orthodox church in Rakovica, one of Belgrade’s southern municipalities. The church is dedicated to Saints Bartholomew and Barnabas and is associated with the local Serbian Orthodox parish community. Construction began in May 1937 as an endowment of Jelena Radоjkić, with the participation of the parish priest Nedeljko Streličić and local parishioners. Patriarch Varnava also contributed to the project and became one of the church’s benefactors. The building was designed by engineer Mihailo Radovanović and professor Vojislav Zаđina. It was consecrated on 24 June 1939, corresponding to 11 June in the old calendar. The dedication also commemorated Patriarch Varnava’s work in the Serbian Orthodox Church and his support for the new church.
