Kau Sai Chau Rock Carving is a prehistoric rock-art site on the north-western coast of Kau Sai Chau in Sai Kung, Hong Kong. The Antiquities and Monuments Office states that it was discovered in 1976 and declared a monument on 26 January 1979, giving it protected status under the Antiquities and Monuments Ordinance. The carving is badly weathered, but a zoomorphic motif remains visible when examined closely. The worked surface is positioned approximately two metres above the highest water mark, unusually low compared with several other rock-carving sites in Hong Kong. The monument lies in a remote coastal location where access by land is extremely poor. Its setting is therefore an important part of the visit: the carving is encountered beside a rocky shore rather than in a conventional museum or urban heritage site. Conservation documentation records protective interpretation signage and a metal cage with Perspex panels over the carving. Visitors should treat the site as a fragile archaeological monument, avoid touching or defacing the rock, and confirm current access arrangements before travelling, as not all declared monuments are always open to the public.
