Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix de Picpus is a Catholic chapel in Paris’s 12th arrondissement, entered at 35 rue de Picpus. It is associated with the Picpus Cemetery and commemorates victims executed during the Reign of Terror. The chapel was built in 1841 by architect Joseph-Antoine Froelicher. Its name comes from a statue of Notre-Dame de la Paix, displayed in the chapel and venerated as a place of prayer. The site is connected with the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, which settled at Picpus in the early nineteenth century and has maintained a mission of prayer and remembrance. The chapel also preserves the memory of the people buried in the cemetery’s communal graves, including the Carmelite nuns of Compiègne. The Paris archdiocese identifies the chapel as a place where visitors may pray near relics associated with the martyrs. The chapel is open on weekdays from 08:00 to 12:00 and from 14:30 to 18:00, and on Sundays from 08:00 to 12:00.
