About square Jan-Doornik

Square Jan-Doornik is a public garden in Paris’s 16th arrondissement, in the Porte-Dauphine area. The green space was created around 1989–1990 on the covering of an underground section of the former Auteuil railway line, now used by the RER C. Its location above the railway gives the promenade an unusual urban setting: the garden conceals the rail infrastructure beneath Boulevard Flandrin.

The City of Paris describes a planted route with annual and biennial flower displays, ornamental grasses, ferns, perennial beds, a row of flowering pear trees, a pergola with climbing roses and trellises covered in clematis. A pond supports wetland flora and fauna and contributes to local biodiversity. The site also has a children’s play area, fitness equipment, a table football table, drinking-water points and a book box. The city lists no toilets or Wi-Fi on the municipal page.

The square is named for Jan Doornik, a Dutch resistance fighter who was killed at Mont-Valérien in 1941. The municipal access point is on Boulevard Flandrin, near Avenue Henri-Martin and Dufrénoy; Porte Dauphine metro station and Avenue Henri-Martin RER C station serve the area.
