The Church of the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel is a Serbian Orthodox church in Batajnica, within Belgrade’s Zemun municipality. The present church was built between 1780 and 1785 on the site of an earlier eighteenth-century church, and the building is protected as a cultural monument. Its architecture is a single-nave Baroque church with a semicircular apse, a narthex and a tall three-storey Baroque bell tower. The interior preserves a notable iconostasis with 44 icons attributed to Teodor Kračun, an important Serbian Baroque painter of the eighteenth century. The church also contains 28 icons by Živko Petrović, religious objects from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, rare books and archival documents. The church stands at Pukovnika Milenka Pavlovića 2, in the centre of Batajnica. It belongs to the Eparchy of Srem, which lists the church among the parishes of the Zemun deanery. Visitors should treat it as an active place of worship and respect Orthodox church customs during services.
