Şişli Armenian Cemetery, also known as Ermenî Kabristanı, is an Armenian cemetery in Istanbul’s Şişli district. It was established in 1865 after the Ottoman authorities allocated land for Armenian burials in the Şişli area. The Armenian Patriarchate describes the cemetery as covering approximately 50,000 square metres, with later additions shaping its present extent. The cemetery is divided into sections associated with saints and includes an area for clergy. An entrance chapel is used for liturgy on Merelots days, the Armenian commemoration of the dead. The cemetery is also associated with the graves of Armenian patriarchs, clergy, writers, artists, musicians, journalists and other public figures. Notable burials include Patriarchs Hovhannes Arsharouni and Malachia Ormanian, writer Zabel Sibil Asadour, linguist Hagop Dilacar, photographer Maryam Şahinyan, musician Onno Tunç and actor Nubar Terziyan. The site is preserved as a religious and funerary place within Istanbul’s urban Şişli district. Its mapped coordinates are 41.0652911, 28.9892817.
