Delikli Bent

Delikli Bent is a natural and historic rock formation in the Selendi River bed, in Yıldız neighbourhood of Selendi district, Manisa. The site is also known locally as Delik Düven. Its defining feature is two water-channel-like openings, formed through rock at roughly three metres high. Delikli Bent is not a developed attraction with buildings or staff; it is an outdoor landscape feature that connects the river environment with local water engineering. The formation marks the beginning of a water channel that once carried water towards Selendi Watermill, giving the site historical meaning as well as visual interest. Delikli Bent is in Yıldız neighbourhood, about 7 kilometres east of Selendi town centre in Manisa, in the Selendi River bed between Bekirağalar and Kazıklı neighbourhoods.

There is no visitor complex, ticket booth or indoor exhibition at Delikli Bent. Visitors see the Selendi River bed, the naturally shaped rock, its two prominent openings and the surrounding rural terrain. The openings resemble channels and are approximately three metres high. The historic link with Selendi Watermill explains why the formation mattered: Delikli Bent formed part of a system for directing water, rather than being only an unusual rock. The wider area is also associated with a route towards the Yıldız and Dırazlar rock tombs, dated to approximately 2,000 years ago.

Allow about 45 to 75 minutes for Delikli Bent itself. That is a practical planning estimate for inspecting the rock, river bed and former water route, not an operator-published visit duration. Add time if you are following the nearby Yıldız and Dırazlar rock-tomb route or moving slowly across uneven ground. There is no defined circulation path or sequence of exhibits, so the visit length depends on footing, water conditions, photography and how closely you want to examine the formation. Plan for a short rural stop rather than a full museum-style visit.

Delikli Bent is described as accessible throughout the day, but it has no organised visitor timetable, staffed entrance or published seasonal schedule. Daylight is the sensible time to visit because the approach ends in a river bed and irregular terrain, not a maintained attraction. Rain, mud, slippery rock or higher water can make access more difficult even when the site itself is not formally closed. A dry, bright period gives better visibility of the two openings and the historic water-channel setting. Visit calmly and avoid standing close to flowing water or entering unstable sections.

Visiting Delikli Bent is reported as free. This free status concerns the site itself; it does not include any independently arranged transport, guiding, food or combined excursion. Because Delikli Bent is undeveloped, prepare before leaving Selendi. Treat the visit as access to an open landscape, not a managed paid attraction.

Delikli Bent is about 7 kilometres east of Selendi town centre, within Yıldız neighbourhood, in the Selendi River bed between Bekirağalar and Kazıklı neighbourhoods. From Selendi, travel towards Yıldız by private car, then expect the final approach to require walking over river-bed and rural terrain. Delikli Bent is in a river bed with rock gaps and irregular ground, and the approach is not described as level, step-free or hard-surfaced. Wheelchair access is therefore unsuitable. Wear secure footwear and move carefully, especially after rain or when water levels rise. Do not enter unstable gaps, climb the rock or stand where flowing water could reach you. No organised facility is identified for toilets, drinking water, shelter or assistance. Treat Delikli Bent as an outdoor heritage landscape: respect the rock, avoid disturbing the river bed and take litter away with you.

The strongest photographs should show both openings in relation to the rock and the Selendi River bed, rather than isolating the formation from its setting. Check your footing before stopping to compose an image. Do not climb the rock, enter narrow gaps or step into moving water for a better angle. Daylight is important because there is no arranged lighting, and the surrounding terrain is part of the story.
