teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi

teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi is an immersive digital art museum under development in Abu Dhabi, conceived by the Japanese interdisciplinary art collective teamLab. The institution is planned as a permanent cultural destination within the Saadiyat Cultural District, joining other major museums on the island. It represents a significant investment in experiential art for the emirate, expanding teamLab's international presence beyond Tokyo and other global locations. The project aligns with Abu Dhabi's broader strategy to establish itself as a cultural hub in the region. The purpose-built 17,000-square-metre structure sits on the Saadiyat waterfront, with a flowing white shell designed around installations that need darkness, water, air and large uninterrupted volumes. teamLab treats the visitor’s body and surrounding environment as part of each work, so images and forms change through movement rather than playing as fixed projections. The Abu Dhabi venue opened permanently in April 2025.

The 17,000-square-metre experience contains large interactive works shaped by light, air, water, sound and each visitor’s movement. Galleries flow into one another without a prescribed route, with dry installations and optional wet areas. Some spaces are dark or enclosed and use steep or uneven terrain. Anko Japanese bakery, free lockers, changing facilities, towels after wet areas and a nursing room support the visit. Dry rooms use light, sound, fog and responsive digital forms, while optional water works involve barefoot movement through treated shallow pools. There is no prescribed route or conventional sequence of labelled galleries. Free lockers protect valuables, changing areas and towels support the wet section, and a nursing room serves families. Anko Japanese bakery provides a quieter stop outside the main immersive flow.

Plan 1.5 to three hours for the complete experience. The timed ticket controls arrival, but visitors may remain inside until closing and move through the works at their own pace; leaving ends the visit because re-entry is prohibited. Families should include extra time for changing after the optional water installations. The last entry is two hours before closing so late arrivals still have a usable visit window. A quick visitor can move through in about 90 minutes, but three hours allows repeated observation as works respond to different crowds and movement. Water areas add changing and drying time. The ticket does not impose a short exit slot once admitted, yet leaving ends the visit because re-entry is prohibited. Entering before the 20:00 cutoff preserves the two-hour minimum before the 22:00 close.

teamLab Phenomena opens daily from 10:00 to 22:00, with last entry at 20:00. Allow 1.5 to three hours and arrive inside the selected timed-entry window. Monday to Thursday sessions after 18:00 are reserved for adults aged 18 and over, with the last entry for younger visitors at 16:30. Earlier weekday slots suit families, while evening entry creates an adults-only experience on those four days. Families should use morning or early-afternoon slots from Monday to Thursday because under-18 entry ends at 16:30 before the adults-only evening. Friday through Sunday keeps the ordinary family pattern later. Timed capacity makes sold-out periods more relevant than outdoor weather, although earlier arrival also leaves time to explore neighbouring Saadiyat museums. Special-event and holiday schedules can replace the standard daily pattern.

A regular timed ticket starts at AED 155 online or AED 165 at the gate, while tickets for children aged four to 12 start at AED 55 and children under four enter free. People of Determination and one companion each pay AED 50 at the gate with valid identification. Online booking secures the selected timeslot because same-day sales at the venue depend on remaining capacity.

teamLab Phenomena is in Saadiyat Cultural District. From central Abu Dhabi, Yas Island or Dubai, use Sheikh Khalifa Highway E12 and follow Cultural District and teamLab signs. The free Experience Abu Dhabi shuttle is wheelchair accessible, and Abu Dhabi Link provides on-demand Saadiyat service. Main parking accepts cars, buses and bikes; overflow shuttles loop from Saadiyat Car Parks 3 and 4 when those areas open.

The experience contains darkness, flashing and strobe effects, ultraviolet light, fog, steep slopes, uneven floors and optional wet areas. High heels, strollers, flash, tripods, monopods and selfie sticks are prohibited. Wet areas can be skipped, and aquatic wheelchairs are available subject to size and availability, but safety rules restrict access to some artworks. Re-entry is not allowed after leaving the venue.

Personal photos and video are allowed when they do not inconvenience other visitors. Flash, external lights, tripods, monopods and selfie sticks are prohibited throughout the exhibition area, and commercial filming needs prior consent. Plain or light-coloured clothing photographs clearly against the projections, while flat, non-slip shoes are mandatory for safe movement. Phones and cameras remain the owner’s responsibility around water installations.
