The Garden Museum occupies the former church of St Mary-at-Lambeth on Lambeth Palace Road, beside Lambeth Palace and across the Thames from Parliament. It explores British gardening through art, objects, design, gardens and the stories of gardeners. The permanent collection and changing exhibitions are inside the same London museum. The medieval tower is currently closed for maintenance, with reopening expected later in 2026.
Regular museum hours are 10:00–17:00 Monday to Sunday, with last admission at 16:30. The museum opens on bank holidays except Christmas Day and Boxing Day, but event closures can alter the schedule. Published 2026 exceptions include early closing on 12, 19, 25, 26 and 30 September, full closure on 7 October, and early closing on 7 and 28 November. Check the operator’s opening-time checker before travelling.
Current admission is £16 for adults, £13 for senior citizens, £9 for students or unemployed visitors, £8 with an Art Pass, £9 for ages 7–18, and free for children aged six and under. Prices may change with programming and exhibitions. Wheelchair users have level access through the Garden Café, and a lift serves the first-floor permanent collection; contact the museum before visiting if lift access is essential. Ground-floor toilets are wheelchair accessible and include baby-changing facilities. The closest Underground station is Lambeth North, about a ten-minute walk away.
