Hanoi Airport Transfers: Buses, Taxis and Shuttles

Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) is Hanoi’s main airport, about 27 kilometres north of the city centre in Soc Son District. Terminal 1 handles domestic flights and Terminal 2 handles international flights. Hanoi has no scheduled airport rail or metro service listed by the airport, so every airport transfer is road-based. Public buses serve different city endpoints. Route 86 goes to Hanoi Railway Station; 90 goes to Kim Ma; 17 to Long Bien; 109 to My Dinh; 07 to Cau Giay; and 68 to Ha Dong. VinBus E10 runs to Ocean Park. Pick the terminus closest to your accommodation, then plan the final walk or city connection. Hai Van’s NB01 and NB02 are airport coach services with routes described by the airport as Ring Road 2 and urban areas. Taxis provide a door-to-door option, while the airport’s mini-bus service serves arriving flights. The free airport shuttle is only for movement between T1 and T2, not for reaching Hanoi. Vietnam Airlines publishes 45–60 minutes by car from Noi Bai to central Hanoi, depending on traffic and the destination. This is an airport-to-city estimate, not a guaranteed hotel arrival time. The same guide gives public buses a 45–90 minute range, excluding waiting time. That range applies to the airport-to-city transfer, not to every bus route or hotel. A bus ending at Hanoi Railway Station, Kim Ma, Long Bien, My Dinh, Cau Giay, Ha Dong or Ocean Park still requires a walk or another connection. The airport publishes no fixed city-centre journey time for routes 07, 17, 90, 109, 86, 68, E10, NB01 or NB02. Hai Van’s website directs passengers to its booking tools for current departures and destinations, rather than publishing a fixed airport-to-hotel duration. The airport currently lists route 07 and 109 at 12,000 VND per trip; 17 and 90 at 15,000 VND; E10 at 20,000 VND; 86 at 50,000 VND; and 68 at 55,000 VND. These are single-trip airport fares. Noi Bai lists E10 at 20,000 VND. VinBus’s fare adjustment effective 1 November 2024 sets 20,000 VND for trips of 40 kilometres or more; the January 2024 launch fare has been superseded. Hai Van NB01 and NB02 are both listed by the airport at 90,000 VND. Hai Van’s current website provides booking and route tools but does not publish a separate fixed airport fare in the page text. The airport requires operating taxis to use a calibrated meter or compliant electronic fare software. It displays a tariff image marked from 1 March 2025, but no single taxi price applies to every Hanoi address. The airport’s Vietnamese public-bus page lists route 07 every 10–20 minutes, 17 every 10–15 minutes from 05:10 to 22:00, 90 every 20 minutes from 06:40 to 22:30, and 109 every 20–30 minutes from 05:00 to 22:00. Route 07’s published end time conflicts with the English airport listing, so confirm that route in TimBus. These are not guarantees that the next vehicle will arrive exactly on schedule. The same Vietnamese page lists premium route 68 every 30 minutes from 07:35 to 22:25 and route 86 every 25–30 minutes. Its route 86 end time differs from the English airport listing; Transerco identifies route 86 as the Hanoi Railway Station–Noi Bai service and directs passengers to TimBus for the current date-specific timetable. NB01 and NB02 are each listed by the airport at one departure every 45 minutes, without first and last departure times. Hai Van’s website offers current booking and route tracking through its app instead of a fixed timetable on the public page. The free T1–T2 shuttle runs from 05:00 until 01:00 the following morning. The airport publishes a 15-minute interval from 07:00 to 23:00 and a 20-minute interval for the remaining service period. Taxis have the clearest late-arrival coverage: the airport says passenger service runs from the first flight to the final flight of the day, including weekends, holidays and Tet. The airport says its mini-bus service covers all flights of the day, including weekends and holidays. For a midnight terminal change, the free shuttle continues into the early morning, with 20-minute service outside 07:00–23:00. It is an internal transfer only. If your city bus has finished for the night, use a registered taxi or confirm the mini-bus desk’s current availability rather than waiting at a public-bus stop. Taxis wait outside the arrival areas at T1 and T2 and suit heavy luggage, families and hotels away from a bus terminus. Noi Bai requires vehicles serving passengers to have spacious luggage compartments, functioning calibrated meters or compliant electronic fare software, clean vehicles and a visible complaints hotline. Ride-hailing is a separate booking option. Vietnam Airlines places the pickup area in the ground-floor arrivals car park opposite the arrival exit and publishes a 45–60 minute central-Hanoi driving estimate, excluding waiting time. A hotel transfer can meet you at the correct terminal and take luggage directly to the accommodation. Vietnam Airlines states that hotel pickup takes about 45–60 minutes to central Hanoi, while the price varies by hotel and vehicle type.
