For a door-to-door trip, Uber and Bolt show an airport pickup point in the app after you request a ride. The assigned point may not be the nearest terminal exit, and the two services do not promise one permanent curbside location. There is also a Kenya Railways bus link between JKIA and Embakasi Village Railway Station. The operator’s currently linked bus schedule describes stops at the airport cargo area and Central Square and gives a KSh 50 fare. This is a bus-and-train journey, not a rail station inside the passenger terminal: match the bus arrival with a train from Embakasi Village before choosing it for a hotel or onward connection. A road estimate depends on the pickup point, destination, traffic and ride category. Uber and Bolt ask for the destination before showing a trip estimate; use your hotel’s full address rather than “CBD” if you need to know how long the last leg may take. The estimate is for the drive and does not include immigration, baggage collection, locating the driver or walking from the drop-off to the entrance. If your hotel is near Wilson or your next flight departs from WIL, enter that airport as the destination and review the route as a separate transfer. The two airports are not interchangeable, and an app estimate cannot guarantee the time needed to clear one airport, cross Nairobi, find the next terminal and meet the second airline’s check-in deadline. Whichever option you choose, compare the arrival-to-door plan, not only the app’s vehicle time. Include your luggage, the number of passengers, any airport change and the final walk to the accommodation. For a late landing, recheck both the live ride estimate and the Kenya Railways service information after your flight is confirmed.

Uber does not publish one fixed fare from NBO to central Nairobi. The app estimates the price after you enter the pickup, destination and ride type; it accounts for trip length, duration, tolls, city fees and current demand. For a shared option, Uber’s NBO page currently advertises UberX Share for same-route airport travellers and says the fare may be up to 25% lower. It is a shared ride, not a guaranteed discount or private car; check the trip terms and displayed amount before selecting it. If your party has several suitcases, compare the larger vehicle option in the app: Uber notes that passenger count and vehicle body affect actual luggage space, which is not guaranteed by category alone. For an overnight arrival, Uber is the airport ride source that explicitly publishes 24/7 service. Waits can be longer, and an advance request is not confirmed until a driver accepts it.
