Choose the Canada Line, NightBus or a road transfer
Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is in Richmond, directly linked to the Canada Line at YVR–Airport Station between the International and Domestic terminals. TransLink trains run to Waterfront in downtown Vancouver; YVR publishes the rail leg as under 30 minutes. (YVR public transportation, checked 2026-09-28; TransLink Visiting Vancouver, checked 2026-09-28)
Canada Line trains branch at Bridgeport to YVR–Airport or Richmond–Brighouse. Change there from Aberdeen, Capstan, Lansdowne or Richmond–Brighouse when heading to YVR. Waterfront connects with SeaBus, West Coast Express and other SkyTrain lines. YVR lists 18 minutes to downtown Richmond. (YVR public transportation, checked 2026-09-28; TransLink SkyTrain schedules, checked 2026-09-28)
When the Canada Line is closed, TransLink’s N10 NightBus links YVR, Richmond and downtown Vancouver. At YVR, use the Domestic Arrivals stop and check the direction and schedule. Compare the endpoint with your address; N10 is not a direct hotel transfer. (TransLink NightBus, checked 2026-09-28; TransLink N10 timetable, checked 2026-09-28)
Licensed taxis wait at International and Domestic Arrivals Level 2; South Terminal passengers use the stand outside that terminal. YVR lists rideshare pickup locations separately for the main terminals and South Terminal. Request app rides after collecting luggage and follow the terminal signs. (YVR taxis, checked 2026-09-28; YVR rideshare, checked 2026-09-28)
Abbotsford International Airport (YXX) serves Abbotsford east of Vancouver and has no Canada Line connection. Its airport lists intercity coaches, shuttle services and taxis. Confirm the destination stop with the chosen operator before booking. (Abbotsford Airport map and directions, checked 2026-09-28; Abbotsford Airport ground transportation, checked 2026-09-28)

Use rail times as station-to-station legs
TransLink publishes about 25 minutes between YVR–Airport and Waterfront; YVR describes the Canada Line journey to downtown as under 30 minutes and the Richmond trip as 18 minutes. These station-to-station times exclude immigration, baggage, station access, waiting and the final connection. (TransLink Visiting Vancouver, checked 2026-09-28; YVR public transportation, checked 2026-09-28)
Canada Line trains alternate at Bridgeport between YVR–Airport and Richmond–Brighouse. For Richmond or suburban accommodation, use TransLink’s trip planner to choose the right branch and count the onward walk or bus; the 18-minute YVR-to-Richmond figure is not the time to every Richmond address. (TransLink SkyTrain schedules, checked 2026-09-28; YVR public transportation, checked 2026-09-28)
N10 is a scheduled road route through Richmond, the airport and downtown stops. Its current timetable provides stop-specific times, but road traffic and stop location affect the trip. Use the column for your stop and leave room for the terminal walk and the ride from the endpoint to your hotel. (TransLink N10 timetable, checked 2026-09-28)
YVR does not publish a universal taxi or rideshare journey time to downtown. Use the taxi zone map for listed destinations and the live app estimate for ride-hailing; a road estimate changes with traffic and the exact address. (YVR taxis, checked 2026-09-28; YVR rideshare, checked 2026-09-28)
YXX coach and shuttle services have different stops and reservation rules. Ebus publishes scheduled Vancouver–Abbotsford coach times, while Rider Express lists its YXX curbside stop at 30440 Liberator Avenue. Confirm the selected city stop and date rather than applying a generic YXX-to-downtown travel time. (Ebus schedule, checked 2026-09-28; Rider Express Abbotsford station, checked 2026-09-28)

Compare TransLink, taxi zones and YXX tickets
Adult contactless fares are C$3.50, C$5.10 and C$6.70 for one, two and three zones. YVR–Airport is Zone 2 and Waterfront is Zone 1: the weekday daytime trip costs C$5.10 plus the C$6.50 YVR Airport AddFare, or C$11.60. After 6:30 p.m. Monday to Friday and all day on weekends and statutory holidays, the base fare is one zone and the total is C$10.00. AddFare applies eastbound from YVR–Airport, Sea Island Centre or Templeton to Bridgeport or beyond; it does not apply to airport-bound trips or between Sea Island stations. (TransLink pricing and fare zones, checked 2026-09-28; TransLink transferring and AddFare, checked 2026-09-28)
Two-zone Compass Stored Value is C$4.20 plus AddFare, or C$10.70, on weekday daytime trips. Its one-zone evening, weekend and statutory-holiday fare is C$2.85, or C$9.35 with AddFare. Compass Card, Compass Ticket and contactless payment allow bus, SkyTrain and SeaBus transfers for 90 minutes. Bus cash transfers only to bus, so it cannot cover the rail leg. (TransLink pricing and fare zones, checked 2026-09-28; TransLink transferring and AddFare, checked 2026-09-28)
YVR’s zone map lists C$46 for Canada Place/downtown and C$48 for Stanley Park, but is marked “updated Oct. 11, 2024”; confirm the fare with the licensed driver. YVR says the C$4 Passenger Load Charge is included in flat fares departing the airport; for metered trips outside the zones, it is added to the final fare. Luggage charges are not permitted, and tips are extra. (YVR taxi zone fares, checked 2026-09-28; YVR taxis, checked 2026-09-28)
YVR does not publish a fixed Uber or Lyft fare. For YXX, the airport lists several independent coach and shuttle providers, each with its own booking and fare; use the actual destination and travel date in that operator’s fare search. (YVR rideshare, checked 2026-09-28; Abbotsford Airport ground transportation, checked 2026-09-28)

Check the timetable for the travel date
TransLink’s current schedules are effective September 7, 2026. The Canada Line operates from YVR–Airport to Waterfront, but departure intervals vary by time of day. Use the station and destination in TransLink’s Trip Planner for the actual departure rather than treating a printed interval as a guarantee. (TransLink schedules by region, checked 2026-09-28; TransLink SkyTrain schedules, checked 2026-09-28)
The current schedule lists the first YVR–Airport train to Waterfront at 05:09 and the last at 00:54. In the reverse direction, Waterfront trains to YVR–Airport are listed from 04:48 to 01:08. These are terminal times; an intermediate station has its own departure time. (TransLink Richmond and South Delta timetable, checked 2026-09-28)
N10 operates overnight on a separate timetable from the Canada Line. The September 7 Richmond/South Delta schedule has weekday, Saturday and Sunday/holiday tables; exact YVR times differ by direction and service day. Check the airport stop and destination column before leaving the terminal. (TransLink N10 timetable, checked 2026-09-28; TransLink NightBus, checked 2026-09-28)
At YXX, the airport lists Ebus, Red Arrow, Rider Express and shuttle services. Ebus’s published schedule includes Abbotsford; Rider Express says its stop is curbside at YXX. Valley Airporter accepts reservations rather than running on a public fixed schedule. Confirm the date, pickup, destination and seat availability with the selected company. (Abbotsford Airport ground transportation, checked 2026-09-28; Ebus schedule, checked 2026-09-28; Rider Express Abbotsford station, checked 2026-09-28; Valley Airporter FAQ, checked 2026-09-28)

Use N10 after the Canada Line closes
The Canada Line is not overnight. TransLink’s September 2026 schedule lists the last YVR–Airport departure to Waterfront at 00:54 and the first at 05:09. If baggage or a delayed flight puts you past the last train, check N10 or use a licensed taxi or ride app. (TransLink Richmond and South Delta timetable, checked 2026-09-28; YVR public transportation, checked 2026-09-28)
The September timetable separates weekday, Saturday and Sunday/holiday service; check the YVR stop and direction, then plan the final ride or walk from its Richmond or downtown endpoint. (TransLink N10 timetable, checked 2026-09-28; TransLink NightBus, checked 2026-09-28)
On Sundays, the Canada Line uses the published weekend schedule and TransLink charges one zone across SkyTrain and SeaBus; an eligible trip leaving YVR still incurs the C$6.50 AddFare. DayPasses bought away from Sea Island are exempt, while those bought at YVR are not. (TransLink pricing and fare zones, checked 2026-09-28; TransLink transferring and AddFare, checked 2026-09-28)
YXX’s intercity coaches and shuttles have operator-specific times. The airport confirms daily coach providers, but Valley Airporter is reservation-based. For a late or Sunday landing, confirm a seat and curbside pickup directly with the selected carrier before choosing YXX. Use marked pickup points and confirm vehicle access
At YVR, hire taxis only from the licensed stands on International and Domestic Arrivals Level 2, or outside South Terminal. YVR says taxis accommodate wheelchairs and mobility aids; contact Ground Transportation to request a suitable vehicle. (YVR taxis, checked 2026-09-28)
YVR has terminal-specific, marked ride-app pickup points. Collect luggage first and follow the app. (YVR rideshare, checked 2026-09-28)
For accessible YXX taxis, notify the operator in advance; confirm mobility-device capacity with Ebus or Rider Express before booking. (Abbotsford Airport ground transportation, checked 2026-09-28; Ebus accessibility, checked 2026-09-28; Rider Express Abbotsford station, checked 2026-09-28)
