About St. Anne's Church

St Anne’s Church is the Roman Catholic church and shrine in Bondi Beach, not another Sydney church with the same dedication. The Catholic Parishes of Bondi use 47 Mitchell Street, Bondi Beach NSW 2026 as the church address. The NSW State Heritage Inventory records 60 Blair Street as the primary heritage address and 47 Mitchell Street as an alternative address for the same building.

The heritage register describes St Anne’s as a major example of Inter-war Romanesque church architecture, designed by Joseph Fowell and Kenneth McConnel and constructed in stages from 1934 to 1964. The design received the 1935 Sulman Award. The church remains an active place of worship, so visits should respect services, private ceremonies and parish activity.

The current parish timetable lists Mass at St Anne’s at 08:00 and 17:00 on Sunday, 18:30 on Monday and Tuesday, 09:15 on Friday, and 09:00 on Saturday. Confession is listed 30 minutes before Sunday Mass, while Monday adoration and confession begin at 19:00. These are worship times, not all-day sightseeing hours.
