About Rochusmarkt

Rochusmarkt is a compact food market in Vienna’s third district, on Landstraßer Hauptstraße at Maria-Eis-Gasse. The City of Vienna lists regional fruit, vegetables, cheese and jewellery at its farmers’ and traders’ pitches, alongside permanent stalls and market restaurants. The site became the Augustinermarkt in the late eighteenth century and was rebuilt to a unified design in 1988 after its earlier use as a flower market. U3 Rochusgasse is the named nearby station on Wiener Linien’s rapid-transit map.

The City publishes maximum permitted trading windows, not one opening promise for every business or an access timetable for the public passage. Permanent sales stalls may trade on working Monday to Friday from 06:00–21:00 and working Saturday from 06:00–18:00. Farmers’ and traders’ pitches have shorter maxima: 06:00–19:30 on working Monday to Friday and 06:00–17:00 on working Saturday. All stalls and venues must be open on working Tuesday to Friday from 15:00–18:00, but individual businesses may keep shorter hours outside that shared period.

Sunday and public-holiday trading is different: restaurants and bars may operate from 09:00–20:00, while flower trading has additional permission only on Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and All Saints’ Day, from 09:00–19:00. Do not treat restaurant hours or one trader’s schedule as the market’s general opening hours. Check the City of Vienna market page or its market app before travelling.
