About Musée Zadkine
Musée Zadkine is a studio-museum in Paris devoted to Ossip Zadkine, the Russian-born sculptor and major figure of the School of Paris. It occupies the house and studios where Zadkine lived and worked for nearly 40 years, from 1928 until his death in 1967. The museum opened to the public in 1982 after his widow, the artist Valentine Prax, left the property and works to the City of Paris. The visit brings together the former studios, house and garden. Sculpture forms the core of the collection, with works in materials including wood, stone, clay and plaster. The museum also holds Zadkine’s drawings and gouaches, studio photographs, archival material and works by Valentine Prax. Its displays and acquisitions develop around the relationship between materials and the artist’s working environment. The museum is located on rue d’Assas in Paris’s 6th arrondissement, near the Jardin du Luxembourg. Permanent collections are free to enter without reservation; temporary exhibitions or group visits may have different arrangements.
