About Théâtre Édouard VII

Théâtre Édouard VII is a performing-arts venue on place Édouard VII in Paris’s 9th arrondissement, between Madeleine and Opéra. The theatre was built as part of the square and surrounding development carried out from 1911 to 1913, under architect Henri Nénot; the official history dates the theatre’s opening to December 1913. It first operated as a cinema presenting Kinémacolor before becoming a theatre in 1916. The venue’s programme has included boulevard plays, operettas, revivals and new productions, and the theatre’s history gives particular prominence to Sacha Guitry, whose work became closely associated with the address. The official site currently lists live productions and events. The theatre is reached from Madeleine, Havre-Caumartin, Opéra and Chaussée d’Antin–La Fayette metro stations; Auber is the nearest listed RER stop. The operator’s ticket office is closed on Mondays, open Tuesday–Saturday 11:00–13:00 and 14:00–20:00, and Sunday 11:00–16:30, with later service on performance days.
