Benjakitti Park is Bangkok’s 450-rai ecological urban forest beside the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Khlong Toei. Its defining character is not a manicured lawn but a deliberately functioning wetland landscape: retained and newly planted trees, ponds for natural wastewater treatment, rainwater-retaining wetland areas and a five-coloured rice demonstration field. It is a substantial city escape where elevated paths, water and native planting frame the surrounding skyline. The scale makes it useful for both a purposeful walk and a longer outdoor visit, while the ecological design gives the park a distinct identity among Bangkok’s public green spaces.

The park combines several kinds of landscape and activity in one large site. Visitors can follow a 5.8 km nature-walk route, a 2.8 km running route or the 1.6 km skywalk, while cyclists have a separate 3.4 km route with a restricted time window. Four ponds form part of the park’s environmental infrastructure, and the wetlands are designed to retain rainwater. More than 300 species of local plants, including native and rare varieties, contribute to the ecological focus. A five-coloured rice demonstration field adds an agricultural element. The former tobacco warehouses now house indoor facilities for basketball, street basketball, badminton, futsal, table tennis, pickleball and teqball, and there is also a skateboard area, playground and designated dog park.

Allow around two hours for a useful first visit. That gives you time to walk a section of the 5.8 km nature route, cross the 1.6 km skywalk in whole or in part, pause beside the ponds and take in the wetland planting without treating the park as a timed exercise session. Runners and cyclists may need longer if they intend to use their routes fully, while a short skyline-and-water stop can be much quicker. The site is large enough that an unhurried visit benefits from choosing one main activity rather than trying to cover every facility and path.

The BMA park profile records daily opening from 04:30 to 22:00, with no weekly closure day listed. Cycling has its own narrower permitted period, from 06:00 to 17:30 on the 3.4 km cycling route. The early opening suits a walk or run before Bangkok becomes hot, while the later closing leaves room for a quieter evening circuit and views of the city lights. If cycling is the purpose of the visit, plan within the dedicated daytime window rather than assuming that the park’s general closing time applies to bikes. Weather can change the comfort of the exposed paths quickly.

General admission is free: the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s activity information records the park’s activity zones and activities as free of charge, so no entrance payment is due for an ordinary visit. Some specific uses are managed separately. The designated 10-rai dog park requires registration and check-in, and visitors must follow its operating rules. That registration requirement should not be confused with an admission ticket for the wider park. The practical distinction is simple: enter the public park without a per-person fee, then check the requirements for any controlled facility or activity you plan to use.

Benjakitti Park is on Ratchadaphisek Road in Khlong Toei subdistrict, Khlong Toei District, Bangkok 10110, next to the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. The BMA names MRT Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre, MRT Sukhumvit and BTS Asok as rail arrival points. Listed bus services include routes 45, 46, 109, 115, 116, 136, Po.22, Po.40, Po.185 and Po.507. Drivers can approach from Ratchadaphisek Road, and the park has parking. The convention centre is the clearest landmark for orientation; from there, choose the park approach that matches the path or facility you want rather than assuming every entrance is equally close.

Follow the BMA’s park rules: drone flying, smoking, alcohol or intoxicants, gambling, trading or exchanging goods, indecent behaviour and damaging trees are prohibited. Cycling is not an all-day option; it is permitted from 06:00 to 17:30 on the marked 3.4 km route. The dog park is a controlled area, not an unrestricted shortcut for pets: registration and check-in are required, dogs must remain leashed and handlers must carry a waste bag and remove waste immediately. The official amenities record step-free access as limited, so visitors who need fully barrier-free movement should plan their route around the site’s actual conditions.

The 1.6 km skywalk is the park’s strongest viewpoint for photography because it lifts the camera above the ponds, wetland areas and planting, giving the ecological layout a readable shape. Look for the contrast between native and rare plants, open water, the rice demonstration field and Bangkok’s dense skyline. Early morning offers softer light and cooler conditions for detail in the landscape; later in the day, the surrounding towers become a stronger backdrop. Drones are prohibited under the BMA rules, so keep photographs ground-based or skywalk-based and use the changing elevation of the paths to vary the composition.
