Adler Planetarium

Closed 19 September, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Arrive early enough for security, timed entry and the main route before the final admission period. Weekends, school holidays, games and special events increase crowds or change individual areas. Museum Entry is USD 25 adult and USD 13 for ages 3-11. Entry plus one sky show is USD 32 adult; entry plus two shows is USD 40. Illinois residents enter free on Wednesday evenings with proof. Buy through the official operator and retain the dated confirmation. General entry does not include separately priced exhibitions, shows, tours, encounters, rides, parking, rentals or food unless the selected product says so. The Adler is at 1300 S DuSable Lake Shore Drive. CTA bus 146 and seasonal 130 reach the planetarium; Roosevelt Red/Orange/Green connects to 146. Accessible parking is in the adjacent Park District lot. Allow time for the final walk, entrance choice, security or boarding location. Use the complete venue name and address in navigation because Museum Campus, Navy Pier and Wrigley products can use different doors or meeting points. Public transport avoids event traffic and expensive parking, and an admission reservation never guarantees a parking place.

The Leffmann Education Center entrance has automatic doors, and elevators reach all floors. All three theaters have wheelchair seating; accessible restrooms, free wheelchairs, listening devices, mobile captions and service-animal access are provided. Follow the designated accessible route and staff instructions. Crowds, special exhibitions, animal encounters, vessels, rides, historic behind-the-scenes spaces and immersive theaters can apply narrower access or transfer requirements than the main building. Keep bags compact, protect the ticket or ID, and leave lift doors, ramps, aisles and companion seating clear for other visitors.

Personal non-flash photography follows gallery signs, but recording is prohibited during sky shows and other copyrighted presentations. Dark theater conditions require devices to be silenced and screens dimmed before entry. Keep tripods, selfie sticks and lighting out of the accessible route. The planetarium's lakefront grounds provide one of Chicago's broadest skyline views, especially around sunset and blue hour; exterior personal photography does not require a museum ticket. Commercial shoots, drones and equipment that affects security or pedestrian circulation require formal permission.
