Square Laurent-Prache is a small public garden in Paris’s 6th arrondissement, beside Saint-Germain-des-Prés church at the heart of the Saint-Germain-des-Prés quarter. The garden preserves architectural fragments associated with the former abbey, including arcades, chapel elements and cloister remains visible among the planting. Its best-known artwork is a bronze female head donated by Pablo Picasso to the City of Paris in 1959 as a memorial to his friend, the poet Guillaume Apollinaire; Dora Maar served as the model. A plaque and medallion commemorate Laurent Prache, the former municipal councillor after whom the square is named. The garden’s compact paths, benches and mature trees make it a short cultural stop alongside the church rather than a destination requiring a long visit. The municipal listing records drinking-water points and access for visitors with reduced mobility. The square is an easy place to combine with the church and the surrounding historic streets of Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
