Lomas de Lúcumo

Lomas de Lúcumo is a highly seasonal coastal-hill ecosystem at Quebrada Verde in Pachacámac, southeast of central Lima. Peru's official tourism inventory records 1,597.36 hectares across the Quebrada Verde, Guayabo, Picapiedra and Manchay sectors. Coastal fog and temperature inversion support vegetation on sea-facing slopes during the humid season, while the landscape returns to its arid character in the dry months. The site is recognised as a fragile ecosystem and is managed for visits by the Asociación Circuito Ecoturístico Lomas de Lúcumo together with the district municipality. Mincetur records trekking, wildlife and plant observation, photography, filming, events and research among activities carried out within the resource.

Two established hiking circuits cross Lomas de Lúcumo. The 5-kilometre Guardianes route includes rock formations known locally as Cabeza de Toro, Cara del Inca and Cara del Español, traces of an abandoned mine, rock paintings and volcanic geological formations. The longer 7-kilometre Los Lúcumos route adds Piedra Padre and includes the shorter circuit's main features. Mincetur also records seasonal flora, birds, vizcachas, lizards and other fauna. These are outdoor routes through irregular terrain, not a single viewpoint or an indoor museum itinerary.

Choose the route before fixing the rest of the day. The community operator describes Los Guardianes as an approximately three-hour circuit and Los Lúcumos as approximately five hours. Those figures refer to the guided routes, not to transport from Lima or time spent arranging entry at Quebrada Verde. A three-hour editorial duration therefore represents the shorter documented circuit; walkers choosing Los Lúcumos need the full five-hour route allowance. Fitness, fog, stops for wildlife observation and trail conditions can still change an individual's pace.

The latest operator announcement says that public attention and opening of the tourist circuit in 2026 would take place in July and August. The notice is dated 15 July 2026. It does not establish that the circuit is open or closed on 7 September, and it should not be expanded into a longer season. Nor does it publish a reopening date after August. For any date outside the announced two-month window, contact the association before travelling. Treat the stated months as the boundary of that notice, not as a permanent annual timetable.

The operator's tariff published on 15 July 2026 lists admission at S/10 for adults aged 12 and over, and S/6 for children aged 3–11 and adults over 60. Local orientation is not included in those admission prices. For groups of one to fourteen people, the published local-guide charge is S/60 for the approximately three-hour Los Guardianes route or S/70 for the approximately five-hour Los Lúcumos route; the operator states that these amounts exclude IGV. Organised groups must reserve through the association's published contact numbers.

The official inventory locates the visitor approach at Centro Poblado Rural Quebrada Verde on Avenida José Abelardo Quiñones, with Parque Mosaico near the entrance. From Pachacámac's Plaza de Armas, the recorded road continues 2.6 kilometres to the Quebrada Verde bridge, then about 1 kilometre to the entrance ticket office. The final recorded approach is a roughly 200-metre walk on the trail. Use Quebrada Verde and the official ticket office as navigation points rather than a generic pin for the much larger lomas ecosystem, and confirm transport for the return journey before starting.

The operator's 2026 schedule applies different entry conditions by day. Monday to Friday access is described for organised groups only, with advance reservation and a mandatory local guide. The published weekend and public-holiday window is 08:00–13:00, with the Los Lúcumos circuit closing at the bifurcation at 13:00. Pets are prohibited. The same schedule mentions later access only to the livestock zone, not continued entry to the complete hiking circuit. Treat these as season-specific operator conditions, not a year-round timetable, and confirm them before departure.

Peru's official tourism inventory lists photography and filming among the activities undertaken at Lomas de Lúcumo. It identifies seasonal vegetation, birds, vizcachas, lizards, rock formations, abandoned-mine traces and rock paintings as features of the routes. That inventory description is not a published photography permit. The record does not specify drone use, commercial production, tripod rules, photography fees or a permit process. Anyone planning those uses needs current terms from the relevant site manager rather than inferring permission from the inventory's general list of visitor activities.
