Approach Beach, or 近水灣泳灘, is the gazetted LCSD beach at 10 1/2 milestone, Castle Peak Road in Ting Kau. EPD places it southeast of Ting Kau, facing Tsing Yi Island, with views towards Ting Kau and Tsing Ma bridges. This identity distinguishes it from Ting Kau Beach and the other bathing beaches farther west along the same road. LCSD marks Approach Beach as protected by a shark-prevention net.

For the period beginning 1 September 2026, LCSD's current annex includes Approach Beach among the gazetted beaches with lifesaving service, provided from 09:00 to 18:00 daily. Its venue page gives the same 09:00–18:00 schedule for September and October, then says lifeguard service is suspended from November through March. These are lifeguard service hours, not whole-beach opening hours. Check LCSD's latest announcements and the flag at the beach before swimming; do not enter the water when a red flag is hoisted.

EPD rated Approach Beach Grade 2, “Fair,” in its 4 September 2026 weekly release. The grade is based on the five most recent samples and can change. EPD advises avoiding swimming for up to three days after a tropical cyclone or heavy rainfall. Recheck the live grading when planning a swim rather than treating this dated result as permanent.

Facilities listed by LCSD are two barbecue pits, changing rooms, showers, self-service storage cages, toilets and a bathing shed. Recorded accessible features are an accessible toilet, tactile guide path, and Braille and tactile floor plan; they do not establish step-free movement across sand or into the water. LCSD lists 2491 1341 for the beach office. For transport, EPD links visitors to the official HKeMobility journey planner instead of naming a fixed route.
