Museo Civico Umberto Mastroianni is in the municipality of Marino, outside central Rome. The municipal museum opened in 2000 inside the former Church of Santa Lucia. Beneath the building is a Roman cistern dated to the first or second century CE. The space was reused for Christian worship between the eighth and tenth centuries, and a Romanesque church was built on the site in 1102. Later medieval work produced the building’s present Gothic character, including pointed arches supporting the roof structure.
The collection presents finds from the Marino municipal area, including classical statues, funerary markers, sarcophagi, inscriptions and a fragment of the earlier church’s presbytery enclosure. Objects recovered through seizures by the Italian State Police are also displayed, and the museum hosts exhibitions and cultural events. Entry is at Largo Jacopa de’ Settesoli, 00047 Marino. The municipality states that visitors with disabilities can access the museum and that admission is free. Public opening is Saturday and Sunday from 09:30 to 12:30 and from 15:30 to 19:00; no weekday public hours are listed. The museum telephone is +39 06 9366 2462. This should be planned as a separate Marino excursion rather than a walk-in stop on a central Rome itinerary.
