Dubai Airport Transfers: Metro, Bus and Taxi

Dubai International (DXB) is Dubai’s principal passenger airport, with Terminals 1, 2 and 3. Dubai World Central–Al Maktoum International (DWC) is a separate passenger airport in Dubai South. At DXB, the Red Line serves Terminals 1 and 3. Choose it when your hotel is near the Red Line or a simple interchange at BurJuman or Union. RTA buses leave from the arrival areas at DXB’s three terminals. Cash is not accepted, so buy or top up a Nol card before boarding. A DTC airport taxi is the practical choice for late arrivals, several suitcases, families, mobility equipment or hotels away from a station. Dubai Airports and RTA do not publish one fixed DXB-to-hotel duration. The final time changes with the terminal, destination, interchange, traffic and the walk after the last station. The Red Line is most useful when the accommodation lies along the line. BurJuman and Union connect the Red and Green lines, but the airport leg is only part of the journey. Changing airports requires extra planning. DWC instructs passengers travelling to DXB to clear passport control, collect baggage and arrange onward transport. RTA calculates Metro and bus fares by the zones crossed. Its current fare table lists AED 3 with a Silver Nol card within one zone, AED 5 across two adjacent zones and AED 7.50 across more than two zones. DTC’s airport-taxi page lists an AED 20 flagfall for a normal taxi and AED 25 for a van at Dubai airports, then AED 2.62 per kilometre; waiting is 50 fils per minute and Salik or Sharjah charges can apply. RTA publishes Metro station hours of 05:00 to midnight from Monday to Thursday, 05:00 to 01:00 the next day on Friday, 05:00 to midnight on Saturday and 08:00 to midnight on Sunday. Dubai Airports gives the same Red Line pattern for DXB Terminals 1 and 3. Public holidays and citywide celebrations can extend service, so confirm the date-specific notice before relying on the closing time. Sunday is the main Metro warning: published station access begins at 08:00 and ends at midnight. For late DXB arrivals from Monday to Thursday or Saturday, the published Metro window ends at midnight; Friday extends to 01:00 the next day.
