About Korean National Police Museum

The Korean National Police Museum in Jongno-gu presents the history and present-day work of South Korea’s police. Established in 2005, it moved to its current purpose-equipped building in 2021. The fourth-floor Police History Hall follows Korean policing from the Joseon Dynasty to the present. The third floor explains current police functions and roles through exhibits and activities. The museum’s shooting simulator runs at 10:30, 11:30, 13:30, 14:30, 15:30 and 16:30; for education and safety, this activity is limited to visitors over age 11, described by the museum as fourth graders and older.

The museum opens Tuesday through Sunday from 09:30 to 17:30, with final admission at 17:00. It closes on Monday, on the following day when Monday is a holiday, and during New Year’s Day, Seollal and Chuseok holidays. Admission is free. Food and pets other than guide dogs are not allowed, and bicycles, scooters and inline skates cannot be brought inside. The address is 162 Songwol-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul 03166, and the public telephone is +82 2 3150 3681. Dongnimmun Station Exit 3 on Line 3 is about a six-minute walk; the museum recommends public transport because it has no visitor car park.
