Glasgow Science Centre

Glasgow Science Centre sells several distinct visitor products; one ticket does not automatically cover every building or session. Science Mall Day Entry is the main interactive visit. Planetarium shows and short IMAX documentaries are separately timed add-ons, while feature-length IMAX films use their own cinema tickets. Glasgow Tower is currently closed and should not be counted as part of an available visit. The operator's price table also separates tickets that include a voluntary donation from lower no-donation prices and applies different age or concession conditions. Select the exact product and date before deciding what a Glasgow Science Centre visit includes.

The Science Mall contains three floors with hundreds of interactive exhibits. Explore! on Floor 1 has more than 50 hands-on experiences involving sound, thermal imaging, colour and physical phenomena. Space Zone forms an immersive route through the solar system toward the Planetarium entrance. BodyWorks on Floor 3 examines health, biology and the human body through interactive stations, while Powering the Future explores energy generation, storage, demand and efficiency. These galleries are part of the Science Mall rather than the separate Planetarium show, IMAX screening or Glasgow Tower experience. Outdoor exhibits and limited-period event programmes also need to be checked independently instead of being assumed from the permanent mall description.

Glasgow Science Centre does not publish one required duration for a Science Mall visit. Day Entry is not limited to a short session, and visitors may remain until the centre closes that day. This planner reserves three hours for exploring several floors, trying hands-on exhibits and allowing for one scheduled experience; that is an editorial planning allowance, not an operator promise. A Planetarium show, IMAX documentary, feature film or special event has its own start time and running time. Add those sessions separately rather than assuming they fit inside three hours. On a 10:00–15:00 weekday, arriving late materially reduces the usable mall time even though the ticket itself is not capped at three hours.

From 31 August 2026 through 25 March 2027, the Science Mall is normally closed Monday and Tuesday, opens 10:00–15:00 Wednesday through Friday, and opens 10:00–17:00 Saturday and Sunday. Published exceptions override that weekly pattern: Friday 25 September and Monday 28 September are 10:00–17:00, and the listed school-holiday dates from 9 through 25 October are 10:00–17:00 daily. From 26 March through 30 August 2027, the published summer schedule is 10:00–17:00 every day. Check the official calendar for the selected date because hours are subject to change. Planetarium, IMAX and event sessions still require their own available showtime within or beyond the mall day.

Science Mall Day Entry costs £15.50 for adults aged 16–59, £12 for children aged 3–15 and £13.80 for concessions, including the voluntary donation. The no-donation prices are £14.09, £10.90 and £12.54 respectively; children under three enter free. A carer supporting a paying visitor who needs assistance receives free admission. A Planetarium or short IMAX documentary add-on costs £3.50, or £3.18 without donation, when available with Day Entry. A standalone Planetarium ticket applies only to the last show of the day, is suitable for ages seven and over, and costs £6.50 or £5.90 without donation. Feature-length IMAX films use separate cinema prices and booking; Glasgow Tower ticket products remain listed but the Tower is closed.

Use 50 Pacific Quay, Glasgow G51 1EA as the destination. From Exhibition Centre rail station, the operator directs visitors through the covered walkway to the SEC, past the SEC Armadillo, across Bells Bridge and along the Clyde past BBC Scotland; it estimates 12–15 minutes on foot. Cessnock is the nearest Subway station, about 20–25 minutes away via Brand Street, Lorne Street and Pacific Drive. Nearby services listed by Glasgow Science Centre include Stagecoach X19 at Govan Road and Pacific Quay, First Bus 90 at Paisley Road West, and McGill's 23 and 26 at Pacific Drive. Drivers leave the M8 at Junction 24 and follow the brown tourist signs rather than navigating to the separate IMAX entrance alone.

The main practical trap is choosing the wrong ticket product. Science Mall Day Entry does not include Glasgow Tower, which is currently closed, and Planetarium or short IMAX documentary sessions are separately timed add-ons. A standalone Planetarium ticket applies only to the last show of the day and is suitable for ages seven and over. Feature-length IMAX films use a different cinema booking and prices. Under-16s may not visit Glasgow Science Centre or its IMAX unless accompanied by an adult over 18. A free carer place applies when a paying visitor requires special assistance, while a voluntary donation can be removed from the published admission price. Check the selected date and session before payment.

Visitors may take photographs and video for personal use at Glasgow Science Centre. Limit recording to members of your own party; staff may ask for it to stop if it causes distress to visitors or employees. Commercial use of images or video made on site is not permitted without an arrangement, and drones are prohibited anywhere on the grounds without prior consent. These are rules for Glasgow Science Centre property, not permission to record a feature film inside the separate IMAX session. Keep devices away during any screening or presenter-led experience when the session rules require it, and follow staff instructions around children, interactive exhibits and event participants.
